Industry analyst Ashok Kumar of Lowenbaum & Co. Inc. is claiming that Intel and Digital will settle their patent litigation suit this week for $1.6 billion. According to Kumar, Intel will license Digital's Alpha CPU architecture and assist Digital in building future Alphas. One interesting bit of speculation has Intel helping Digital to convert the Alpha into a compatible product of Intel's 64-bit Merced.
