IIS 4 beta due in June

Microsoft is releasing a June beta of Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0, code-named "K2." This public beta will feature tight integration with Microsoft Transaction Server and provide for process isolation. In the current version, ISAPI applications must run within the process space of IIS. IIS 4 also adds thread management features, Web site usage statistics and other reporting capabilities. Automatic crash recovery will enable errant Web applications to be restarted.

Active Server Pages are updated with a new debugging tool, and server-side components for SMTP mail, threaded discussion groups, and uploading capability. A beta of Index Server 2.0 will accompany the news IIS, offering search capabilities for Office 97 document types and Adobe PDF
