IE11 Reliability Update Starting to Filter into Everyone's Windows 8.1 Windows Update Inbox

I've had back and forth chats with folks over the last week about compatibility issues with IE11. For some, IE11 works fine, but for me – the things I do and use the Internet for – IE 11 has caused some serious compatibility problems. In IE 11 is Different Enough to Make it Unusable, I talked to this with the primary factor being that there was a huge change between IE10 and IE11. Yes, its fine to improve and release new versions of software, but the latest revision should at least work as good as the last one. For some web sites, I've had to stop using IE11 altogether.

Today, Microsoft has released an update to IE11 that they are labeling a "reliability" update. I've not had IE11 bomb at all, so I'm hoping this new update is, in reality, a huge compatibility fix. I'll report back when I find out.

You can either wait for it to show up in Windows Update, or use the KB Article page to download the update manually. The downloadable bits are particularly important for those organizations who are slave to the corporate patching process.

Here's the associated KB Article page: Update improves the reliability of Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2
