HP Boosts Openview With Federated Identities

Hewlett-Packard announced that it will buy Trustgenix, maker of identity federation solutions. Terms of the acquisition were not announced, however HP said they will integrate Trustgenix federated identity solutions into their OpenView management software portfolio.

"Identity federation appeals strongly to market segments such as telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing and government ," said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager, OpenView Business Unit at HP. "The depth and breadth of the Trustgenix solutions will bolster our efforts to help customers securely and quickly extend their enterprises to business partners within and across corporate boundaries."

Trustgenix claims to offer the only federated identity management software that supports all federation standards, including Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), Liberty Identity Web Services Framework (ID-WSF), Liberty Identity Federation Framework (ID-FF), Liberty Enabled Client Proxy (LECP), the Liberty Extended Profiles, and Web Services Federation (WS-Federation). With Trustgenix in place OpenView will enable users to secure access to information residing on different systems using diverse identity management systems.
