DOJ investigates Microsoft's use of Java

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has expanded its anti-trust investigation of Microsoft Corporation to include Microsoft's use of Sun's Java technology. The DOJ has served Sun with several civil investigation demands, as have several state attorneys general. Sun is already in court with Microsoft, suing the Redmond giant over its use of the Java logo: Sun says that Microsoft shouldn't be using the Java-compatible logo because its version of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) in IE 4.0 failed Sun's compatibility tests.

The Justice Department will not comment on Java because it is part of an ongoing investigation
