Well, the wait is finally over: Microsoft has released the DirectX 6.0 binaries to its DirectX Web site. There are two versions to download, the so-called "user" or "core" version, and the full version, which includes the DirectX SDK for developers. If you simply want to play games and don't program DirectX titles yourself, simply grab the core download and have fun.
