ASP Consortium Names Finalists for 2001 ASPire Awards

The ASP Industry Consortium (ASPIC) has announced the names of the 14 finalists for the second annual ASPire Awards, which honors best practices in the application service provider (ASP) industry. The consortium also named the five members of the independent review board who will evaluate the finalists and choose five winners, who will be announced in October.

The ASPire Awards will recognize practitioners in five categories: Delivery and Enablement, Innovative Technology--Wireless, Integration, Management and Operations, and Service Satisfaction. Entrants submitted case studies that illustrated excellence in each chosen category and demonstrated how they met each measure of performance as the Consortium's Best Practices Committee determined. Then members of the Best Practices Committee, working on separate teams for each category, selected three finalists in each, with the exception of the Wireless category, where the committee chose only two entrants. An independent review board of ASP industry experts from outside the consortium, including representatives from the International Data Corporation's (IDC's) Internet Services and Application Service Providers and Asia/Pacific, ASP Practice divisions; Gartner Dataquest; McKinsey; and Enterprise Management Associates will select the ASPire Award winners from among the finalists.

The 2001 ASPire Awards finalists are a truly global group of ASPs. Delivery and Enablement's finalists include NIMETA--Hospitality's eCommerce Solution (Moscow), Community TechKnowledge (CTK--Austin, Texas), and Abridean (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada). The finalists in the Innovative Technology--Wireless category include MH2Technologies (Addison, Texas) and Isovia (Boston). The Integration finalists are IBM (Armonk, New York), ASP-One Europe (Paris), and Siemens Medical Solutions Health Services (Malvern, Pennsylvania). Management and Operations finalists include Multrix (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), BMC Software (Houston, Texas), and SilverBack Technologies (Billerica, Massachusetts). Finally, Service Satisfaction finalists include Interpath Communications (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina), Yube (Santa Clara, California), and Siennax (Amsterdam, The Netherlands).
