In Windows 2000 and Windows NT, the registry subtree HKEY_PERFORMANCE_DATA stores performance data (i.e., a collection of heterogeneous data about the state of the computer). By default, local and remote users have Read access this data. If you want to secure this data so that only authorized users can access it, you can change permissions on the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Perflib subkey in Win2K and NT. For detailed information about how to change the permissions, see the Microsoft article "HOWTO: How To Secure Performance Data in Windows NT" (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q146/9/06.asp).
