Internet Explorer 5 Demos : Updating Contents with Dynamic Expres - 19 Feb 2002

Description Dynamic Expressions is a new Internet Explorer 5 feature that enables you to set any style attribute to be the result of an expression, instead of a static number or value. This expression is dynamically updated by Internet Explorer.

More Details
In the demo, notice that the heading of the document is updated as you type into the text input. That's because the innerHTML of the heading is set to be the contents of the text input. Note that you can type any HTML into that text input, and it will be displayed as HTML. For example, try typing " " into the text area.

Browser/Platform Compatibility
This new feature of Dynamic HTML is supported in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 on the Win32 and UNIX platforms.
Usage
You can use Dynamic Expressions either to set a style in a style rule via "expression", or you can set it dynamically in script with the new setExpression method. This sample uses the setExpression technique. See documentation for further details.
