Q: Why do I need to set a number of displays and resolution for a RemoteFX-enabled virtual machine (VM)?

A: When you add the RemoteFX 3D video adapter to a VM, you're prompted to select the number of monitors and the resolution for each monitor, as shown here.

This information is used to control how much graphical and system memory is allocated to the VM when it's started, because the more monitors and higher resolutions require more graphical and system memory allocated. Note that the graphical and system memory aren't reserved and allocated until the VM is started.
