Q. If I use RemoteFX, will multimedia redirection be used?

A. RemoteFX provides a very high fidelity experience to any client by taking advantage of server-side graphical rendering, regardless of the client's graphical capabilities. However, if you're connecting from a fat client with local rendering capabilities, it will use far less bandwidth and resources to render certain types of supported multimedia on the local client by sending the raw data to the client. Therefore, even with RemoteFX enabled, multimedia redirection is used where possible. RemoteFX acts as a catchall for any media that can't be sent raw and rendered locally.
