Q. Do I need a separate client OS license for the virtual machines that make up my Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment?

A. In a Microsoft-based VDI environment, all of the connecting devices, such as full Windows clients and thin clients, must be covered by Software Assurance or a Virtual Device Access license. You don't need to purchase separate licenses for the virtual client OSs that run in the datacenter-based VMs.
