Q. Can I have more than one parent partition on my Hyper-V server?

A. The parent partition is responsible for running various management processes and communicating with the hypervisor, so there can only be one running parent partition on any server. You could install multiple instances of Windows Server 2008 R2 on a single server using dual-boot with multiple partitions or booting from Virtual Hard Disks (VHDs), but only one of them would ever be active at any one time.
