Q. Are there any limitations to the types of applications I can virtualize with VMware ThinApp?

A. ThinApp is VMware's application virtualization solution, the equivalent of Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V). It actually has the same limitation as App-V in that you can't virtualize drivers. If you have an application that has a driver component, then the solution today would be to virtualize all of the application except for the driver part and then deploy the driver part of the application directly to the client OSs. You shouldn’t virtualize OS components or software such as VPN clients, antivirus, and personal firewalls.

More information is available on VMware's site.
