Add Custom Value Pairs for the Hyper-V Data Exchange

Add Custom Value Pairs for the Hyper-V Data Exchange

Q. Can I add my own custom value pairs for the Hyper-V Data Exchange?

A: Yes. Create your own string values under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Virtual Machine\Guest key, which can then be read from the Hyper-V host. You can add these values using the regedit.exe tool or from the command line using reg.exe

reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Virtual Machine\Guest" /v NewValueName /t REG_SZ /d TestValue

or by using Windows PowerShell and its New-ItemProperty:

New-ItemProperty -path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Virtual Machine\Guest" -name NewValueName -value TestValue
