When Apple Computer announced its AOL Instant Messaging (AIM)-compatible iChat AV service last year, most IM users yawned, because so few people use the company's Mac OS X platform, which was required for the best features of the service. But now all of AIM's users can take advantage of some of the previously Mac-only features that Apple added to iChat AV, including video conferencing. AIM 5.5, now available for users on Windows-based PCs, includes both audio and video chatting capabilities (which are compatible with iChat AV, if you have a Mac-using friend), as well as other AIM-specific features, such as online game invitations. You can find the free download on the AIM Web site.
