Why is the IPCONFIG tool missing after I install the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit?

A. IPCONFIG is a standard Windows 2000 and Windows NT tool that provides information about your IP stack. The Resource Kit provides a GUI version of this tool--wntipcfg.exe. However, wntipcfg.exe isn't installed by default. To install this tool, perform the following steps:

  1. Insert the Win2K Resource Kit CD-ROM.
  2. Double-click the netmgmt.cab file.
  3. Copy the wntipcfg.exe file to the %systemroot%\system32 directory (e.g., c:\winnt\system32).
