JSI Tip 6332. How do I select a preferred Windows 2000 Terminal Services license server in a domain or site?

To select a specific Terminal Services license server, instead of allowing the standard discovery process to find it:

1. Use the Registry Editor to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TermService\Parameters.

2. Add Value Name DefaultLicenseServer, a string (REG_SZ) data type, and set the data value to the NetBIOS name or IP address of the preferred license server.

3. Restart the TermService service.

NOTE: You can use the same license server for different domains and/or sites.

NOTE: If you use this method and the specified license server is unavailable, the default discovery process will NOT attempt to find another license server.
