Group Espada Announces New Security Tools

Group Espada announced it would release a set of new security tools that are now undergoing beta testing. The new tools consist of KATANA, Katana.Net, and Katana for SQL Server 2000 and will be available as a suite or as individual components.

Katana identifies risks with custom programming, configuration, and deployment. Katana.Net scans source code to help find security risks. The tool works with code written in Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, ASP.NET, and C#. Katana for SQL Server 2000 scans servers for configuration problems, stored procedures, and performs more than 250 other security checks.

The company said it's still accepting applicants for its beta test program. The suite is scheduled for commercial release in April 2003, with pricing for single-seat licenses of KATANA.NET and KATANA for SQL Server 2000 tools set at $995 and $1,995 respectively. Enterprise licensing will also be available.

The company said it would also release other tools to help secure Microsoft technology, such as Katana for IIS 5.0, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Content Management Server, Commerce Server, and Biztalk Server. The company also plans to release similar tools for Oracle and Linux.
