Apple Ships 17" MacBook Pro

On Monday, Apple Computer shipped a 17" version of its MacBook Pro notebook, so if you have an extra $3000 laying around and a deathwish about buying first-generation technology, we have the makings of a plan. The 17" MacBook Pro features exactly what you'd expect if you're into Apple hardware: a 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 1680x1050 resolution, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB Serial ATA hard disk, an 8x dual-layer SuperDrive DVD burner, and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB of memory. It also has three USB 2.0 ports (compared with just two on the 15" MacBook Pro), and FireWire 400 and 800 ports. (The 15" models don't include a FireWire 800 port.) I've owned cars that didn't cost as much as one of these things, but I'm sure someone out there can justify the expense. You lucky dog, you
