Q. Can SCVMM 2016 be installed on Windows Server 2012 R2?

A. No. SCVMM 2016 requires Windows Server 2016. It can be installed on Server with Desktop Experience or Server Core but not Nano Server. Nano Server can be used as a library server by SCVMM and as a host instance.
