When Microsoft released its batch of security updates for June, some users of Systems Management Server (SMS) and System Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr) 2007 discovered that they could not install the updates properly. An explanation of the problem was posted to Microsoft's Manageability Team Blog.
Help to work around that problem is now available. On June 13 Microsoft published a security advisory, which explains that administrators "should use the Software Distribution feature for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 or other deployment technologies such as WSUS or from a SMS 2003 site server." The advisory also offers information that can help determine whether the problem exists on your network.
