New Tool to Scan System Center 2012 R2 for Problems

To help resolve issues and identify potential problems with System Center 2012 products, Microsoft has released a Configuration Analyzer tool. It's important to note that this updated Configuration Analyzer is intended to be run on servers running System Center products and not a tool to help fix client problems. Microsoft provides other tools for that, as well as some pretty detailed community-sourced tools, most of which you can located on our sister site myITforum.com.

System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Analyzer provides a baseline (Microsoft calls them 'Models') of what an optimum running System Center implementation should look like and then utilizes Microsoft's Baseline Configuration Analyzer 2.0 (downloadable HERE) to scan the System Center products for inconsistencies. In fact, along with the proper, supported OS (Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2) being installed, the Microsoft Baseline Configuration Analyzer 2.0 is also a prerequisite installation.

System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Analyzer works for the following System Center products:

  • Operations Manager
  • Virtual Machine Manager (VMM)
  • Service Manager
  • Orchestrator
  • Configuration Manager
  • Data Protection Manager (DPM)
  • App Controller
