There are many things a DBA needs to do on a day-to-day basis to ensure that everything remains optimal. The key is doing the right task at the right time and having a long-term strategy. Success is tied to being proactive, not reactive. This session will discuss the most important tasks a DBA must perform (or automate) for their instances and databases to ensure key things like availability, performance, and security. Where possible, the different tasks, tools, and techniques will be demonstrated. Using maintenance plans vs. doing the tasks yourself will also be touched upon.
