Parametric Technology (PTC) purchased all rights of RAND Worldwide's ModelCHECK. Developed by RAND with PTC, ModelCHECK is a software productivity tool that checks the quality of 3-D designs created with PTC Pro/ENGINEER to verify conformance to standard design rules and best practices. "ModelCHECK is the equivalent of the spell checker in word processing documents for 3-D CAD model quality," says Jim Baum, executive vice president of engineering, research, and development at PTC. Currently used by approximately 350 PTC customers to ensure consistent, high-quality reusable design data, ModelCHECK can be used as a key process tool, as part of a total managed information infrastructure, and to ensure that shared data is high quality and conforms to standards.
