Where is the JVM in Windows XP?

A. Because of Microsoft's ongoing problems with Sun Microsystems over Java and Microsoft's new C# language, Microsoft is moving away from Java. As a result, the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is available only as a Web download. To obtain the latest 32-bit edition of the Microsoft JVM, go to Microsoft's Web site. If you don't already have a JVM on your system and you visit a Web site running a Java applet, Internet Explorer (IE) will automatically ask whether you want to install the Microsoft JVM. To see an example of this functionality, go to my Web site
