Microsoft Re-Releases SharePoint 2013 SP1

Now you see it, now you don't, now you see it

Microsoft today re-released SharePoint 2013 SP1. I could give you the URL (and I already did, if you go back to sentence number one), but I'm wondering how trusting are you now? Is this release-withdraw-re-release pattern going to become a commonplace occurence? Is it going to make even the breathtakingly self-assured early adopters stop for a moment and think before pressing Download? Or not.

If you'll recall, Microsoft released the Office 2013 Service Pack in late February with what the technology press called "very little fanfare." Then around April 4, they stopped letting people download SP1 for SharePoint 2013. Eighteen days later, it's back and ready for you to download.

I'm thinking the word "re-release" sure looks weird the more I look at it. But perhaps I'd better get used to it.
