Microsoft released the April 2014 Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2013 this week.
The CU continues in the grand tradition of Microsoft naming conventions, which tend to cause, at best, some head scratching, and at worst, lawsuits. Yes, the April CU was released on May 7, 2014.
The reason it’s not named “May CU for SharePoint 2013” is that “it is the delayed April CU. It was delayed due to the re-release of SP1 and that caused it to slip into May,” wrote Stefan Gosner in a comment on his SharePoint 2013 April CU post.
Will there be a May CU? “May CU is expected to release next week but only for Office client and WAC as these products have a different release cadence than SharePoint.”
