Symantec Releases AntiBot To Fight Bot Infection

Symantec announced the release of its latest tool, AntiBot, which monitors system behavior to detect telltale signs of bot activity.

"Norton AntiBot uses active behavior-based heuristic detection system that is always on. This technology constantly analyzes the behavior of files and applications to ensure that otherwise invisible malware is tracked and eradicated as soon as it exhibits harmful behavior," said a spokesperson for the company.

According to Symantec there were more than six million active bots on the Internet at the end of 2006. The company also said that bot infiltration rose 30 percent in the last six months of 2006 as compared to the first half of 2006.

AntiBot is being sold as a standalone product for $29.99 including a one-year subscription to protection updates.
