Q. I've added a symbolic link to the Virtual Machines folder under Hyper-V but my virtual machine isn't being displayed in the Hyper-V management console. What's wrong?

A. A common cause for this problem is that you have an anti-virus program scanning the server that's monitoring the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V in real time. You must add the folder to your anti-virus scanner's the exclusions list to make new VMs appear in the Hyper-V management console.
