Firefox 3.0.8 Due Out Soon

As expected, a few attendees of the CanSecWest conference produced some notable security cracks against the world's most popular browsers.

Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari were all cracked pretty quick. As is typically the case, contest winners received several thousand dollars in cash plus laptop computers.

No details of the actual attack methods were made know by the successful crackers. However this week Guido Landi released a working exploit against Firefox that leads to a remote memory-corruption. As a result Mozilla intends to release 3.0.8 within the next few days in order to correct this problem. You can expect to see that by around the middle of next week.
