Clean Up or Get Cleaned Out

Those lacking adequate security-related defenses sometimes learn lessons the hard way and at a hefty price. As you'll learn when you read Invasion of the Stock Hackers over at BusinessWeek, a simple anti-virus program (which anybody can get for free these days) could have prevented a nightmare scenario where a man and woman's life savings was pilfered from their E*TRADE account. You can probably guess how that happened: A Trojan entered his system and was used to gather his private credentials, which were then used to sell his stock and transfer the proceeds to a fraudulent bank account. Luckily the man and women recovered most of the money. But most isn't all. I'd venture to guess that the amount they didn't recover could buy some of the best security solutions on the market
