BigFix Launches Tightly Integrated Endpoint Security

BigFix's new Endpoint Defender suite includes antivirus, antispyware, firewall, patch management, vulnerability assessment, and asset discovery features. The company said the policy-driven solution is "designed specifically for organizations with 1,000 to 5,000 endpoints."

"BigFix EndPoint Defender delivers the right functionality with the same high performance levels our large customers enjoy priced for growing enterprises," said Dave Robbins, president and CEO at BigFix.

BigFix sees the new suite as especially helpful for mobile computers. The company commissioned a study by Gatepoint Research, which found that "the inability of security configuration management solutions to manage mobile workers disconnected from the network \[is\] the single greatest vulnerability that could contribute to security attacks."

With the launch of the new suite, BigFix is taking aim at particular competitors. BigFix said it will offer an introductory price of $28 per endpoint for existing customers of Microsoft, Symantec, McAfee, and Lumension Security (formerly PatchLink).
