Microsoft Open Sources PowerShell, Partners with Amazon Web Services, VMware, and Google

Jeffrey Snover, the inventor of PowerShell at Microsoft, took to the Azure blogs today to announce the company is deliver PowerShell as a fully open sourced solution. In doing so, PowerShell will be available for OSX and Linux.

Alpha versions are available today from a PowerShell GitHub page.   

In addition, Jeffrey throws kudos to Microsoft competitors…

We also needed to extend our community since open source, like so many things, takes a village and that village is key to a great experience! We are partnering with third party companies – Chef, Amazon Web Services, VMware, and Google to name a few - to create a rich, seamless experience across the platforms you know and use.
