Updates to Office for iOS, Preview for Android, and Touch-optimized Office Not Coming until Windows 10

Today, Microsoft has unveiled new Office app experiences for users of iOS and Android, including the ability for users of those platforms to edit and create Office content without an Office 365 subscription.

  • New – available today, Microsoft is delivering updated versions of its Office apps for iPhone users. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are available. Microsoft is describing these as new because the experience is much improved, bringing them directly in line with the iPad experience.
  • New – an Office app for Android tablets is in the works and set to release in preview in early 2015. To take advantage of this when released, users need to use a form to sign up for the preview. Sign up HERE.
  • Updated – Office for iPad apps (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) have all been updated and are available for download today.
