SkyDrive Pro 1.1 for iOS

Better integration with Office Mobile and OneNote Mobile

Microsoft this week bumped its SkyDrive Pro mobile app for iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch) to version 1.1, adding better integration between the app and other Office solutions on iOS, including Office Mobile for iPhone (and iPod touch), Office Web Apps, and OneNote for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

"SkyDrive Pro for iOS v1.1 introduces a premier mobile editing experience for Office 365 for business users," Microsoft senior product manager Mark Kashman writes in a new post to the Office 365 Technology blog. "The documents you work on remain in their original source location, SharePoint Online in Office 365, enabling you to work with your Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote documents - to easily keep track of them, even while on the go."

SkyDrive Pro 1.1 basically makes it simpler to do two things:

View, share, and edit files stored in SkyDrive Pro from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. While you can still view Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in the SkyDrive Pro mobile app, you can now select an Edit link and edit them in the appropriate Office Mobile app too.

Open OneNote files from SkyDrive Pro directly to OneNote for iPhone and iPad. Ditto for OneNote notebooks: When you select the Edit link, it will open in OneNote Mobile.

Obviously, you need both Office Mobile (iPhone and iPod touch only) and OneNote Mobile for this to work properly. And a with the original version of the app, SkyDrive Pro 1.1 for iOS is available for free and requires an Office 365 business subscription.
