Fixes and Features Included in Office 2013 SP1

As we reported earlier, service packs have been released for Office 2013, Exchange 2013, but also SharePoint 2013. The service packs now available represent the first since Microsoft publicly released the 2013 versions of its productivity and email products.

As with all Service Packs, previously released hotfixes and updates are included in the installation, but also new additions and features.

Here's a quick overview of improvements you can expect to see after installing the large update:

  • Improves compatibility with Windows 8.1.
  • Improves compatibility with Internet Explorer 11.
  • Improves compatibility with modern hardware, such as high-DPI devices and the precision touchpad.
  • Provides new apps for Office capabilities and APIs for third-party developers.
  • SkyDrive Pro has been properly renamed to OneDrive for Business

If you're looking for the full range of issues that are fixed by the service pack you can download the following Excel workbook:

Microsoft Office and SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 Changes

The workbook contains a single sheet with hotlinks to multiple areas in the workbook pertaining to specific Office 2013 suite products, which then lists out the issue fixed by SP1. This is a great doc to search to identify if existing issues in your environment are covered by the service pack.
