Microsoft Beefs Up Mobile Outlook Support

Microsoft announced at the Microsoft Exchange Conference (MEC) in Orlando that Mobile Information Server 2002 Enterprise Edition, currently in beta, will include a new feature, Microsoft Server ActiveSync, which will let users synchronize directly with Microsoft Exchange Server from their mobile devices. Mobile Information Server 2002 will support 24 different mobile devices, including devices running the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 OS released last week. Next year, Microsoft will introduce its Smart Phone, formerly code-named Stinger, which will include a Mobile Outlook feature that lets the phone remain synchronized with data on Exchange Server at all times. The Smart Phone will also run applications written for Pocket PC.
