WPC and Microsoft Surface: Here We Go Again…

The deal coming to WPC is the same deal Microsoft offered at TechEd 2013 North America and is bringing to TechEd Europe.

Just announced today, Microsoft has declared yet another conference that will receive the deep, deep Crazy Eddie Surface discount. Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) 2013 kicks off on July 7, 2013 in Houston. I noted a few days ago that Surface RT's were being given away for free at a couple upcoming conferences (here and here). The deal coming to WPC is the same deal Microsoft offered at TechEd 2013 North America and is bringing to TechEd Europe:

  • Surface RT 64GB with touch cover: $99.99 USD
  • Surface Pro 128GB standalone: $399.99 USD

And, still, MMS 2013 attendees are wondering what they did so bad to sit on Microsoft's hate list. I guess Microsoft checked its list, and checked it twice, and found the MMS 2013 attendees to be naughty and not nice. MMS 2013 was in April of this year and Microsoft hadn't even yet considered initiating the Surface dump sequence. And, from what I'm hearing, the Surface stock should be depleted long before planning for MMS 2014 even begins.

As stated in a previous article

Reported in various places yesterday (Bloomberg article), Microsoft has tapped Qualcomm for their Snapdragon processors to provide processing power for the second generation of Surface RT devices.

The Surface 2 is due to release sometime this year, so it's likely that Microsoft's Surface deals is an effort to deplete stock to make room for the Surface 2.
