Session 3: Using Storage to Increase Database Performance

Presented by: Denny Cherry

Running Time: 60 minutes

In the final session, we'll look at ways that your storage solution can be configured to increase database performance. Some of the things to consider when selecting the correct RAID level to use will be highlighted, along with a review of how to setup the cache in your storage array or DAS. We'll then look at some of the newer technologies like FLASH Cache to improve the caching abilities of the storage arrays. Finally, you'll learn some of the differences between iSCSI and Fibre Channel and how to use tiered storage from both a performance and finance perspective.
