Doing the right thing.

Doing the right thing can be hard. Knowing the right thing to do is always easier than we want to accept. We often no what to do and simply choose not to do it.

Have you ever found yourself wondering how you might explain an action or a decision to your grandmother, spiritual advisor, or your 10 year old daughter? Then your decision is wrong and you know it. I have some advice for you.  Draft a memo to the audience listed above that explains a decision you plan to make but are ‘struggling’ with.  That will force you to wonder how your grandmother, spiritual advisor, or child will view the matter. Then re-read the beginning of this paragraph to help ensure you make the right choice.

You know what is right. Like Nike says; just do it.

I thought about making this post longer. Doing the right thing is an interesting and complex topic that entire books are written about. But doing the right thing is incredibly simple at its core. So I wanted my first pass at this topic to be incredibly simple as well.

P.S. Integrity. It’s not just for databases.
