Microsoft sends word that it intends to deliver SQL Server 2008 R2 to customers by May 2010:
SQL Server 2008 R2 now has an official delivery date—the product will be generally available by May and listed on the May price list.

Key customer benefits include a trusted and scalable platform, IT and developer efficiency, and managed self-service business intelligence.
Customers with Software Assurance can upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2 and take advantage of the new features without incurring additional licensing costs.
