Xbox One's Fall Guy Becomes Zynga's New CEO

In a press release, Zynga has announced that Don Mattrick will be joining them as the company's new Chief Executive Officer.

Wow. Proof that if you screw up badly enough, you can land a better job somewhere else. Paul Thurrott has been covering the laughable Xbox One press announcement for a long while and during his coverage has suggested that the failure of the Xbox One rested squarely on Don Mattrick's (Microsoft ex-President of Interactive Entertainment) shoulders. It may have been a passing comment in an episode of Windows Weekly or a blurb in an online post, but Paul also suggested pretty clearly that Mattrick should be fired.

Whatever the case, today, Paul's wish has come true. In a press release, Zynga has announced that Don Mattrick will be joining them as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. Zynga has been in a tail-spin recently, with stocks falling and layoffs abounding. Zynga must be hoping that Mattrick can right the ship.

Here's the full press release:  ZYNGA NAMES DON MATTRICK CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The announcement, today, comes during Microsoft's latest reorganization. This is probably only the first of many upcoming announcements around personnel changes within Microsoft.
