Why do I receive an error when I access hardware computer information in the Help and Support application?

A. The full error that you're referring to is

all.part2 is null or not an object

Corrupt information in the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) repository causes this error. To resolve it, perform the following steps:

  1. Start a command-line session.
  2. Stop the WMI service (also known as WinMgmt) by typing
    net stop winmgmt
  3. Delete the Repository folder by typing
    del %windir%\system32\wbem\repository
  4. Press Y to the confirmation.
  5. Restart the WMI service by typing
    net start winmgmt
