Check Point Fills Out VPN-1 Line with UTM and Acceleration Products

Check Point Software Technologies has added Unified Threat Management (UTM) to its VPN-1 line of products for SMBs and branch offices. For enterprise customers, Check Point now has a VPN-1 gateway that improves performance for applications such as VoIP and ERP. Bill Jensen, Check Point product marketing manager, said that smaller businesses and regional offices like an all-in-one UTM device for firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, and antivirus; Check Point's new VPN-1 UTM offers these features plus a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN and Web application firewall.

Check Point's larger customers want to leverage the investments they've already made in third-party antivirus products; they don't necessarily want an all-in-one solution in their headquarters location. However, they might be looking to accelerate security-application performance. For these customers, Check Point is introducing VPN-1 Power. Check Point's Open Security platform lets third-party antivirus products integrate with VPN-1 Power.
