Updated GPO Settings References Make it Easier to Locate What's New

The latest GPO updates have been released and include some additional columns for sorting so you can better locate what's new and what's changed.

New to the spreadsheet are four additional, but important pieces of information that IT Pros look for each time Windows or Windows Server is updated. They are:

  • Reboot Required
  • Logoff Required
  • Active Directory Schema or Domain Requirements
  • Status (New = TRUE)

Clearly, out of the four additions, the "Status" is probably the most sought after piece of information. When Microsoft makes changes to its operating systems, Group Policy admins have to work hard to figure out what settings are now available to manage systems. This makes it easier.

For example, in the Windows 8.1 Update and Windows Server 2012 R2 Update 1 spreadsheet, jumping over to the "New in Update 1" column and changing the filter to "TRUE" will show you that Update 1 brought 96 new GPO settings (out of a total of 3,643).
