Two New Tools and One Updated Tool for ISA Server 2004

Microsoft released three new command tools that help administrators with Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 and clients. The new FCWTool can adjust settings on client computers for all users, a particular user, or a particular application, including Web browsers. The tool also lets you configure which ISA Server the client will use.

FwEngMon is a tool designed to help administrators monitor and manipulate ISA Server's firewall driver. With the tool, you can open and close ports, export a list of filters, export command output to an XML file, and look at specific connection and creation elements.

The other tool, Remote Access Quarantine, is part of the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit. However, Microsoft has updated the tool and administrators who already have it installed should consider loading the updated version. The quarantine tool consists of two components: RQS.exe, which runs on ISA Server, and RQC.exe, which runs on client systems. Overall, the tool will quarantine client requests after the client authenticates and until the settings of the client system have been checked for compliance.

You can download all three of the new tools at Microsoft's download center at the links above.
