Troubleshooter: Restoring Deleted Outlook Folders

An IMAP user deleted her Calendar and Contacts folders, which didn't contain any data at the time. However, she switched over to Outlook and now wants to use those folders. Can I recreate them?

Most IMAP clients don't let you remove the Inbox or Deleted Items folder, but after that, their behavior is all over the map. For example, Microsoft Entourage for Mac OS X happily lets users delete the Journal, Contacts, and Calendar folders, along with all contained items. (To be fair, most IMAP clients don't display these folders unless users manually subscribe to them.) To restore folders so that they appear in Outlook, run Outlook with the /resetfolders switch. Be aware that this process doesn't restore any items that were in the folder when the user removed it.
