TiVo, the digital video recording (DVR) pioneer, has introduced a $50 rebate for its service. For the first time, consumers can purchase a TiVo Series2 DVR for as low as $149 at retail stores across the country. The $50 mail-in rebate applies to the purchase of the 40-, 80-, and 140-hour models of the DVR, along with a subscription to the TiVo service. With the rebate, consumers can purchase the 40-hour model for $149, the 80-hour model for $249, and the 140-hour model for $349. Joe Miller, vice president of sales at TiVo, said, "With the right pricing, and availability at leading retailers, there has never been a better time to get TiVo."
The TiVo service includes features that let viewers easily record their favorite shows. Viewers using TiVo's Season Pass recording feature can record an entire season of a show with just a click of the remote. And the WishList feature lets you search for and record programs that star favorite actors, directors, or sports teams.
The TiVo Series2 DVR works with antenna, cable, digital cable, and satellite systems and is available at leading consumer-electronics retailers, such as Best Buy and Circuit City, and online at Amazon.com. The TiVo service is sold separately for $12.95 per month, or a one-time fee of $299 for the life of the product.
