Sony PSP to Launch with Music Service, PIM Features

When Sony's long-awaited PlayStation Portable (PSP) launches next month in the United States, it will come with a couple of unexpected new features. Sure, the PSP will arrive with an all-star lineup of high-quality games. But a few additional perks—including a music-download service and some PDA-style personal information management (PIM) applications—promise that the PSP will blur the line between game machine and all-in-one digital device. The Sony music service will apparently be part of a wider download service that will let PSP owners download software updates and game levels, sources say. The PIM update—which will also include word-processing, spreadsheet, Web-browser, and email applications, go figure—will apparently be made available through that download service as well
